Art Attack!!! Pio's first Art Work

Hooray! my little bundle of joy just made his first art work ever! and of course he did this with my supervision as he is an always put-every-object in his mouth boy. I assisted him in picking a specific color I just tell him "pick the color yellow please!", he would grab it and started scribbling and doing lines, dots and broken lines.

Things we used:
  • Non-Toxin Crayons (I started out with basic and primary colors which he's familiar with
  • Bond Paper or a Drawing Book

Excited to do his first Art Work

It is also important that we should prepare their surrounding to be child safe. If you want to use paints or water based colors the care giver should monitor them as accident of putting objects in to their mouth and swallow it might happen. While doing an activity with your toddler it is also wise to play a good background music for them, their favorite nursery rhyme songs or any happy children music would do.

he is almost done!

He is finished! I don't know what title should I name this art work maybe I just have to be patiently wait until he's ready to talk and able to name his own work. Until then, I may name this, uhm.. "Pio's Art 'Beat'".. what do you think? hahahaha!

Good Job! baby.

A good boy deserve a treat! plus a shared moment with Papa Mike

Picture taken right after we rode on a carousel
A picture that captured a baby who's amazed by the spinning bee.. oh yes! a spinning bee and a merry-go-round! and albeit Mama has motion sickness, when it comes to baby Pio I really must overcome it. Moreover, it's all worth it as long as he is happy, what would I never do for his happiness.

He is always a good boy, a man on the move who loves to climb up and down, dance, cheer and giggles. His every day is spend with bunch of activities and socialization and since he's a lovable fellow I took him out and had fun riding on a carousel and spinning bee. Oh boy! he looked so very happy and he really enjoyed riding on a horse..up and down, up and down, spinning fast, spinning slow and I got dizzy after that, whew!

Following the fun rides we saw a group of musicians who's having their rehearsals, and we watched it joyfully or should I say I watched it joyfully and baby Pio watched them seriously? yes, he was watching it seriously as if he was carefully listening to every music they played.

It was a long night for both of us and when we get home just after a few minutes Papa Mike got home from his work and they spent the rest of the night before going to bed together. He read a book to baby while the little boy listened apprehensively. This is a wondrous moment for me... which money can't buy.

Friday!.. and it's all about SIMPLE TASK.

Today is Friday!.. Hooray!! and a clutter Friday morning for my little one. This is his routine not only every Friday morning but everyday of his life!... right after he finished his breakfast he oftentimes go to his books and pick it one by one, looking at every picture on its page while blabbing as if he's reading words and put it (sometimes throw it) on the floor and this is how it looks like after doing his so called book reading. He is doing it while watching videos from his collections of infant and toddler music and Learning Videos Collection, you see how multitasking he is.

After lunch was a lot busier for him. His task was to sort his toys or put it back inside the toy box. Of course! he cannot do it yet without my command I am just somehow training him that after playing with his toys he should put it back inside the toy box, and he is practicing this task until he get used to it. Well, it's not too young to learn about being responsible with your own things and a clutter free corners.

And why so doing this thing.. Involvement of my toddler in simple task at home? According to the 'Raising Children Network': Involving kids in tasks and chores.( Click Here for more information) it is beneficial for both the kid and the whole family to get your child involved in simple chores. They will learn how the family relationship is and how it function, this is just one of many ways how they can learn from it. When children contribute to family life, it also helps them feel competent and responsible. Sharing housework can minimize stress in a family. Getting kids involved in chores helps the family work better.

Here are some ideas for children of different ages.
2-3 year-olds
  • Pick up toys and books.
  • Put clothes on clothes hooks.
  • Set placemats on the dinner table.
4-5 year-olds
  • Set the table for meals.
  • Help with preparing meals, under supervision.
  • Help put clean clothes into piles for each family member, ready to fold.
  • Help with grocery shopping and putting away groceries.
  • Hand you wet clothes to be hung out to dry.
6-8 year-olds
  • Water the garden and indoor plants.
  • Take care of food and clean water for pets.
  • Help carry garden refuse, under supervision.
  • Clean bathroom sink.
  • Wipe down kitchen benches.
  • Help wash and hang out clothes.
  • Help fold dry washing.
  • Mop floors.
  • Put away crockery and cutlery.
  • Dusting.
  • Take out rubbish.
  • Help with meal preparation and serving, under supervision.

All done! Clutter free. :)
Good Job sweetie!

Never too late ( updated)

Yay! it has been ages since I wrote in my blog and I really missed it. This has been a modern diary, and the only difference is that it's posted publicly and not the typical kind of diary that we used to hide under the bed after we write on it so no one could read it. And now here it is- what we called BLOG where we can express through writing anything under the sun!.

After several months of anticipation  for my little handsome to grow ,  look how is he growing now!... 11 months old already and staying handsome... oh! how I love to play with him, kiss, caress, cuddle, chase him as he crawls and help him not to hit the floor as he falls from keeping his balance in tact... whew! I love every single moment I spend with him. He can utter few words already like "mama", "papa" and "mum" means to eat when he's starving or he sees me eating, "duh" for dog and "ka" for cat.. amazing!
I feel a whole lot younger and more lively  when I spend time with my son and I already memorized more than ten nursery songs hee hee hee!... and ready to memorize more.

On a serious side, apart from being a mother/parent to my son means not only to pamper him, giving him foods, buying him clothes and formula milk, changing his nappies when it's soiled already. And being a mother does not end only in pacifying my son, taking him to a park, play with him, taking him to a Pediatrician when he's sick, making appointments to his Pediatric Dentist and making sure he is taking his daily vitamins... oh well, those mentioned above are really important though, in fact, without doing so everybody will judge you as a careless mother and will make him nutritionally and caring deprived. But there is more beyond that mother's task which every mother should do and that is to be his ever first... TEACHER... and to discover everything about him and his potentials even in his most delicate age as an infant and then becoming a toddler...

I discover that he loves to learn than to play  with his toys and that he loves to turn the pages of his books than watching TV even if turning the pages gets him cranky and frustrated sometimes but still books are what makes him fascinated and what makes his brain nurtured with primary learning. That's why we both love hanging together at the National Bookstore.. that building with the bright red color on their signage. :) ... He is learning fast and his brain is like sponge that absorbs knowledge quickly. I only have to catch his most attentive mood and when he looks receptive and ready that's when I start to teach him, not to force him, but to give the lesson where we both enjoy it best. Whew! being a Mother-that's what I am taking as a profession.

-EVERY BORN CHILD IS A GENIUS-

Glenn Doman

Little Reader...

Since my son was still in my womb, I would hear to pleasing music and the classical ones too and I also read books to him, and when he was born my husband and I did not invest to buy him plenty of toys, instead we would go the the bookstore with him and buy  board books. I took a picture of him with his books.

This is the very first book we bought for him, he was 3mos. old here

4 months old
4 months old

When he was between 5 months to 6 months old he would turn the pages of his books and got fascinated with the colors and pictures he would seen..

6 months old
We even brought him to the bookstore to donate books, my husband and I used to do this ever since and now that we have our son we're doing it together with him.. :)

He loves to open his books than to play with his toys and I spend lot of times reading  books to him while pointing each words as I pronounce it loud and clear. I also read it in a way I could catch his attention by making funny face and loud voice so he would be more interested. There come a time when I noticed him turning the pages of one of his favorite book and I would hear his little voice such as "koo,koo,koo"... it's like as if he can read the words already...it's so cute!

At 9 months old he can identify some pictures when I ask him to point it.

And now that he is 11 months old already and as I have seen his interest in books, which I think its natural to all babies to get fascinated in colorful books, I began to research about the possibility of teaching a baby to read until I found on a networking site about Glenn Doman methods. I also watched file videos of babies reading as early as few old and how they progressed as month goes by.

I even made this self-made flash card to start teaching my baby to read.

And a few days later I see his progress too he can read few words already such as cat, dog and birds..terrific! I would like to stress that I don't force him to read, if  wants to do something else I allow him to do it. I only need to catch his most attentive mood and when he is receptive that's the chance we do the lesson.

'Sweet like flower' mornings!

It's 9am and baby is awake, I smell fried egg and cheesedog. I turned and checked hubby.. He 's not on bed! Baby and I found him in the kitchen and preparing breakfast. Then he gave me those lovely flowers. I was... teary eyed and speechless. I don't know what to say, I was very much surprised and couldn't even move my hands to embrace him. Hahaha! I can't remember since when the last time he gave me flowers but all I can say now is I mark this date as one of the sweetest mornings he made for me. There were ups and downs but he is a blessing for me and the greatest for my only son.

Thanks Mahal!

On his Pink Bunny Bank.. Part of Little Montessori at home.

Whenever Pio see a coin or there is someone who give it to him he would just play it or the worse is the next thing you see is that its inside his mouth already yikes! So this should be how I can make him put every coin I give him or other people (if he is lucky, heehee!) in his pinky bunny bank (why pink? Because it's actually mine and I give it to him).  I will say dramatically "oh! poor pink bunny she is so much hungry, she wants to eat, I wonder what she is hungry for... I know! A coin!." And only then I can make him insert the coin to the pink bunny (his conscience is working hihihi!) It's also a way to train him how to save and as he grows he will discover that Pink Bunny does not really get hungry and that he's doing it because it's important to save. But for now let him believe that the pink bunny whenever gets hungry need to be fed with lots of coins. :D
Every cent counts!
